Planning update 9th Jan

Glasses: The Six Bells (01284 735551) and Beehive (01284 735260) pubs in Horringer may help with dishwashing/glass hire/hot water urn??

Catering: E-mailed MJT today to confirm that I would like to book for hogroast only and request new invoice is e-mailed. Now have joint account cheque book to start ussing cheques. As for...
Vegetarian food - bridesmaid Jenny has offered to prepare something hot in the Old Forge kitchen oven or garden BBQ.
Arrival buffet - we can supply fruit, crisps etc - set this up in the morning & cover with cling flim.
Evening buffet - we can supply cheese board with biscuits, grapes, figs, pate etc PLUS the pies/cakes made by myself/my bridemaids/their family. Stored evening before in catering area until evening.

Wedding cake: Matt will ask his mum to make this, and bring it from Devon. To be decorated with flowers by florist.

Music: We definately want to book a good DJ. As for other music, I still haven't got a clue - the type of Jazz you sent doesn't sound right for the barn or the field outside. After DJs, how much would we have left over and what would this afford us? We both like harpists, but might prefer a good accoustic guitarist (unlike Demitri - who is too classical, something more spanish or contemporary perhaps?). Not found or heard anything we like yet.

Photography: Simon and I did not meet because of the snow, but his weddings can be seen on www.adrenoimages.com . I'm attracted to his service because it's good value for money, he's enthusiastic and a great personailty. However, his portfolio doesn't demonstrate what I want (not to say he can't do it). Will meet Simon, and keep enquring with others until I come to a decision.

Stationary: I'm going to buy flower rubber stamps and ink to make the invites over the next few weeks.

Transport: Not having anything but a taxi, to save money. Will need to arrange airport transfers but this can be sorted closer to the time.

Bar/wines: I feel totally left in the dark about the bar.

Equipment hire: Still looking for a van to hire. Have you any ideas?

  1. Catering:
I am very happy to place food out for you and display the cheese, providing everything is brought on Saturday (to avoid mice!)for me to get ready before your arrival.
    Music:
I am delighted you like John Ward he would be very suitable. I will email now for both availability and a quote.
    Transport:
Have you a firm in mind? If not would you like me to source?
    Bar:
As mentioned I know 5 outside bar services. I have provisionally booked one, however I have not yet confirmed this. I will discuss this with the local pubs your mother mentions to see if they have an outside service (quite a few pubs do now) as it could save us money on the general equipment hire.
    Wines and drinks reception:
How much of this are you planning to provide, as this could reflect on the bar and their takings.
    Van Hire:
My husband will source a price for Vanhire on Monday via Enterprise.
